In my Post-Meccaland Wishlist blog, I said I wanted to purchase one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting minis when they launched in stores. Unfortunately the minis only come in four out of the six full-sized shades, so I decided to spend the extra $30 a pick up a full-sized Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light (that turned out to be much better value if you look at the cost per gram). Here are my thoughts on the most expensive finishing powder I own!
I’m going on a four day holiday soon, so I thought I’d share what I’m taking with me, and why I’ve selected these particular items for my makeup routine while on holidays. The key is to take travel-sized items where possible and pack light, while still giving yourself some room for variety.
I was pretty sad that I wasn’t able to go to Meccaland, but with the items launched at the event about to make their way in stores over the next few months, I’m getting over the fact I wasn’t at the event (maybe next year, Mecca?) While shopping around for a new Home and Contents Insurance plan, my hubby suggested I get an estimate on how much my valuables cost. Considering how much money, time and effort has gone into my makeup collection over the last two or so years, I decided I’d get an approximate value on my stash. After an hour of cataloging each item (not including skincare, brushes or almost-used up items) into a spreadsheet, I was shocked to discover my collection was three times the cost (RRP) of my initial guesstimate. *insert flying money emoji here*
I didn’t even need to swatch this in person when it released in stores. As the proud owner of last year’s holiday palette (Volume 2), I knew I had to pick up this year’s Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette. Volume 3 is the same as it’s predecessors – it’s got luxurious packaging and powders to match, and of course its steep price tag of $117 AUD ($80 USD).
This is my take on the ‘This or that’ makeup tag, which sort of combines a wishlist with an anti-haul. Today I’m going to be sharing which holiday items I’d take, and which ones I’d leave behind from a few of my favourite cruelty-free brands. Continue reading
