I picked up the Tarte Flirt travel-sized palette while on holidays the other week, after making the difficult choice between it, the Pro To Go and the Tease palette. I selected this one because of it’s matte options (light, medium, dark and deep dark), as well as its two shimmers.
But before I get into the shades and finishes, here’s a quick snapshot of the packaging. It fits into the palm of my hand, and is just a little bit smaller than the Too Faced White Chocolate Chip palette.
I’m not crazy about the purple and gold striped cover, but I like that the inside comes with a mirror and there’s a faux gold finish around each eyeshadow.
Gaze is a matte, warm-toned cream, and is lighter in the pan in comparison to a skin swatch. This shade can work as an all-over base, provided I use a light hand. Touch is a warm-toned pinky-copper shade with a shimmer finish. While it appears more pink in the pan, it comes off looking more orange-bronze when built up as a swatch. Hotline is a matte, warm-toned light brown shade, and is one of two transition shades (for my fair skin).
Playful is a matte, cool-toned light brown shade, and is the second transition shade in the palette. It’s slightly darker than Hotline. Passion is a neutral-toned bronze with silver shimmer shade. It looks almost lilac in the pan, but on the skin it translates to something more neutral in colour. Snuggle is a dark brown shade with a matte finish. This colour is the deepest shade in the palette.
As you can see from my descriptions and photos, some of the shades don’t translate well between the pans and swatches, so I suggest testing this out in store if you’re undecided (and compare them to the other two Tarte travel palettes currently on offer).
I noticed a fair amount of kick up with these shadows, similar to an Anastasia Beverly Hills palette. This wasn’t a deal-breaker for me, but it is worth mentioning for those who like a tidy palette.
