The two foundations I currently own aren’t cheap – my Nars Sheer Glow set me back $68, and my Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil cost $66, so I’ve been wanting to find a drug store alternative that’s just as good, if not better. I purchased the Australis Oh 2 Glow Foundation at 50% off a few weeks ago for about $12.50. Even at it’s full price ($23.95), it’s still almost a third of the cost of my Nars or Josie Maran! Here are my thoughts on this new foundation.
The Oh 2 Glow comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump applicator. It holds a similar amount of product to most other foundations (28 mL). On the front of the bottle, it claims to have light-diffusing and anti-ageing properties, and contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E.
I find this to be a light to medium coverage foundation, with a demi-matte finish. It feels light on the skin, but still does an excellent job of covering up blemishes. I wear the shade Nude, which is the lightest in the range, and only just matches my skin (in winter I may have to mix this with another foundation). I would have liked to have seen at least double the shades that are currently on offer, so hopefully Australis expands on the range.
I actually prefer this foundation over my Josie Maran, as I’m finding the Argan Oil foundation is starting to make me look a little oily if I use too much and don’t set it in well with a matte powder. On the other hand, Australis Oh 2 Glow is similar to Nars Sheer Glow, in that it gives my skin a healthy, natural finish without being too dewy. I wouldn’t call it an exact dupe for Sheer Glow (Nars offers more coverage, and a better shade selection), but I’d purchase the Oh 2 Glow over Sheer Glow, as Nars is no longer cruelty free, while Australis is.
