Real Techniques Miracle Diamond Sponge v.s. Beauty Blender

After a year of using the Beauty Blender (thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread), and forking out $30 (AUD) every three months, it was time to try a new foundation sponge. Enter the Real Techniques Miracle Diamond Sponge, which I got on sale for $15 ($25 RRP).

The Real Techniques sponge is shaped like a diamond, and each sponge has a unique, one-of-a-kind grey/white marbled pattern.

The sponge expands when squeezed under running water, and is soft to the touch, even softer than a Beauty Blender.

I found it didn’t absorb any more product than a Beauty Blender does, and it did a fantastic job applying foundation and concealer. I found the flat base of the sponge was great for distributing the foundation quickly and evenly, while the pointed tip was great for getting into smaller spaces like the nose area.

Since trying this I’m unlikely to purchase any more Beauty Blenders (purely because of the price), and have made sure to stock up on back-ups of the Real Techniques sponges while they’re on sale, especially since they are currently half the price of a Beauty Blender!

  1. Thanks for this post! I’m currently looking to replace my beauty blender as it’s gotten slightly ripped and no longer gives me a flawless base anymore but the thought of spending that money on a sponge is painful πŸ˜‚
Think I’ll check out real techniques!
