I got this blush as part of the Tarte Skin Starters and Color Set. While I bought the set more for the skincare (and the fact it was 30% off), the mini makeup items were a nice addition.
The packaging (apart from the smaller size) is identical to the full-size compacts. The shade of the blush is mimicked on the plastic casing, with the word ‘tarte’ raised in gold lettering.
The compact contains 1.5 grams worth of product, and has the usual Amazonian Clay imprint on the blush. I noticed a very faint lemon scent to the blush, but it wasn’t noticeable once applied to the skin.
Monarch is a pale orange-peach shade with a warm undertone. The blush has a faint satin finish, with a fair amount of pigmentation for a light shade.
The closest dupe I own is Fortunate from the Tarte Blush Bazaar palette. In the pans, they both look deceptively pink, but swatch more on the orange/peachy/coral side. Fortunate is more of a pale orange-coral shade, and is brighter than Monarch.
Both shades are really pretty spring/summer colours, and I hope to play with them more, as they aren’t typical shades I reach for.
Have you tried any of Tarte’s blushes? What’s your favourite shade from the range?
