2017 has been a big year in beauty. From warm eyeshadows to multi-coloured highlights, this year has seen a variety of trends (some of which I’m happy to leave behind!) Here are my favourite products of 2017.
Primer: Becca Cosmetics First Light Priming Filter
I purchased this product in April, and it’s about the only primer I’ve used all year! I love the dewy look it gives my skin, and I like that the purple tone helps even out redness. I’ve got a quarter of a bottle left, so this was definitely worth the price for the amount of product. Read my full review here.
Foundation: Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil Foundation Fluid
After Nars announced it would start selling in China, it was time for me to find a new foundation. I picked up Josie Maran’s Vibrancy foundation after hearing lots of good things about it. It has light to medium coverage, and leaves skin looking healthy and glowy. Read my full review here.
Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
This is easily one of the most hyped-up makeup products of 2017, and for good reason! This concealer is full coverage, and you don’t need to use a lot to conceal dark circles and pesky blemishes. Shape Tape comes in a wide variety of shades too, so there’s something for everyone who loves a heavy-duty concealer. Read my full review here.
Powder: Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact
I bought this product after a recommendation from livloveshermakeup on YouTube, and it’s the cheapest setting powder I’ve seen on the market. I use this to tone down glowy makeup, as well as bake my undereye area.
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
In last year’s Best of Beauty post, I mentioned I wanted to try a good high-end brow product, specifically the Brow Wiz. I love this product as it’s easy to use, and the shade Taupe matches me perfectly. I’ve even bought a back-up, that’s how much I love it. Read my full review here.
Eyeshadow primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I’m still using the same primer as last year’s Best of Beauty, so it’s probably time I find something new. But I love using this one from Too Faced, as it’s not too thick and blends in quickly. It does conceal some redness too.
Eyeshadow Single: Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow
While these liquid glitter eyeshadows are still relatively new in my collection, they’ve completely changed how I apply glittery eyeshadow. No more fall out and packing on shadows, just quick swipes and a little bit of blending and I’m done! Read my full review here.
Eyeshadow palette: Too Faced White Chocolate Chip
I’m one of the few people who loved this palette from Too Faced. It’s perfect for travel, and the shade selection is great for those with fair to light complexions. They also included a variety of matte and shimmer shades, making it a one-stop-shop! Read my full review here.
Mascara: Stila Huge Extreme Lash
This was another product featured in last year’s Best of Beauty, and despite trying a few other mascaras, nothing stood out as much as this one from Stila. I’ve got a couple of Tarte mascaras sitting in my back-up draw, so hopefully I’ll find something new that’s just as good as this one!
Bronzer: Too Faced Sweet Tea
I went between my old favourite, the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil, and the Sweet Tea this year. I love using the Sweet Tea bronzer when I’m after more of a sun-kissed glow. It’s by far my favourite luminous bronzer! Read my full review here.
Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay (Paaarty)
I finally got to try out one of Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blushes in my Sephora x Tarte Birthday Exclusive pack. Paaarty is a cool-toned muted pinky-mauve shade, and it’s been my most reached for blush for the past four months. Read my full review here.
Highlight: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (Prismatic Amethyst)
I picked up Rose Quartz the day it landed on Sephora’s website, so I knew I was going to pick up Prismatic Amethyst too. This highlight is a soft lilac shade with a strong pale pink shift to it. Read my full review here.
Lipstick: Urban Decay Comfort Matte (Backtalk)
This was one of the best investments I made into my makeup collection, as well as for my best friend’s wedding where I was a bridesmaid! It’s the perfect pinky-nude-mauve shade, and one I’m constantly reaching for. The comfort matte formula ensures it stays on for hours, while still being comfortable on the lips. Read my full review here.
Lipgloss: Anastasia Beverly Hills (Metallic Rose)
Anastasia has the most pigmented, sweet-smelling glosses out there, and Metallic Rose is my favourite shade (while only owning two, I’ve swatched most in store)! I love using it on its own, as well as pairing it with one of my many pinky-nude liquid lipsticks. Read my full review here.
Setting Spray: NYX Matte Finish
I love this setting spray from NYX to finish off my makeup look, and while it doesn’t really mattify my makeup, it does help it last. It’s a cheaper alternative to my old favourite, the Urban Decay All-Nighter.
