Is the original Beauty Blender worth the hype and the $30 AUD spend? Well, if applying foundation with any regular makeup sponge makes life easier, using a Beauty Blender makes application almost effortless.
Once wet, it’s super bouncy and soft, making foundation distribution even, quick and most importantly, comfortable (some sponges you really have to push into the skin!) While the little ‘bling ring’ that came with my sponge isn’t essential, it’s a handy little holder for post-application use. Whether it’s a bling ring or little dish, make sure you have a clean space for your sponge’s drying time, that way you’ll keep it fresher for longer (Beauty Blender recommends you replace their sponges every three months).
My only gripe is the colour running after I wet and squeeze out the sponge during cleaning. While this isn’t a deal breaker for me, it’s already losing it’s signature hot pink colour, which is a little disappointing for an expensive sponge.
Although the price isn’t (quite) right, I don’t see myself using any other makeup sponge from now on. The Beauty Blender is a permanent resident in my makeup collection, and whether you’re a beginner or a fully-fledged beauty-junkie, the original Beauty Blender should be part of your collection too.
