Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette

I know a lot of beauty gurus aren’t a fan of this palette and I understand why. The pigmentation isn’t amazing, and the sadhows don’t have the softest of finishes. But when you’re looking for easy makeup looks, this palette is kind of perfect. Lazy girls, this is a drug store item for us!

The first shadow is a shimmery off-white shade, which is good to highlight the brown bone with, but don’t expect highbeam…it’s a lot more lowkey. The second is is a shimmery peach-champagne shade and makes for a great lid topper. Try using a setting spray on a brush when applying this. The third is a grey-pewter shimmery shade. It needs to be built up if you want something like the colour in the pan though. If you like a super shimmery pink shade, you’ll like number 4. This is a favourite of mine for all over the lid or as an inner corner highlight.

These swatches really aren’t selling it – but you can make the lighter shades work with a wet brush

The fifth is a mauve-taupe shade with a pinch of shimmer. This actually makes for a fantastic transition shade. Shade number 6 is a cool-toned shimmery brown. It’s another favourite of mine as it’s a pretty neutral. Pigmentation isn’t bad either. Number 7 is a bronze gold shimmer shade. This is gorgeous all over the lid, but you’ll need to build it up for intensity. Eight is a matte brown shad with bronze glitters. It’s not my favourite hype of shadow, but it’s still a decent one for the crease.

Some of the darker shades are pretty pigmented, but they’re still easy to blend

Shadow 9 is a light brown-pewter shade, and is good for the lid in smokey eye makeup looks. The tenth shade a darker, less shimmery version of Nine. It’s a nice little number for the crease if you don’t mind some sparkle. The eleventh is another favourite of mine, although I haven’t used it as much as I have the neutrals. It’s a shimmery cranberry shade. The twelfth shadow has barely been touched, and is my least favourite in the palette. It’s a dark brown with heaps of gold sparkles, although this doesn’t translate when the shade is swatched. It’s also pretty patchy.

Although not intense, this does make for a good beginner palette (or lazy girl in my case!)

What do you think? Am I being too easy on a drugstore palette? Do you have a better one to recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
