YouTube made me buy it: Lancome Juicy Shaker

I first heard about these unique lip oils from Tati on YouTube. It’s time to #bantheboring and shake up your lip care routine with Lancome.

This product is the first I’ve bought from the brand, and for $34 (AUD) a piece, it’s pretty pricey for what is essentially, similar to a lip gloss. You’re starting to get into high-end territory here. But is it worth the hype?

As I’ve said time and time again, if the packaging is cute, there’s a good chance I’ll buy it. I was sold when I saw the lip oil came in a mini version of a martini shaker. Bonus points to the brains behind this idea Lancome!

Basically when you let the product rest, you’ll see two distinct layers – the top is the oils, and the bottom is the pigment, that give you a wash of colour. Once combined, it takes around a day for the oils and pigment to separate, so it’s not like you have to constantly shake this up, particularly if you use it multiple times throughout the day.

There’s small metal balls at the bottom, which help mix the oils and the pigment together when you shake it up, and also give you that classic sound of a martini shaker. Once you’ve given the product a good shake, you’ll notice the liquids have blended together completely, leaving you with the true colour of the lip oil.

I need to emphasize that this is a sheer wash of colour, and while the colour is buildable, it isn’t going to give you the same look as a lipstick. As well as this, it isn’t going to last as long as a lipstick. The shiny look will fade in about an hour, while the colour should remain longer, depending on what you do. If you’re eating, it’ll be gone by the time you’ve finished your meal.

The good thing about this product is that the colour fades evenly, and it doesn’t have that tacky feeling most lip glosses have, so you are getting the best of both sides.

If you’ve got the money, and like the concept, this is worth the splurge. However, a good lip balm will do the job of moisturizing your lips – so this definitely doesn’t offer anything totally revolutionary in lip care, in my opinion. That being said, I’ve got at least another two shades from the range I’m looking at picking up – it’s the packaging and concept that I love!

Have you tried these yet? Do you think it’s all hype? Let me know in the comments below!
